Manage form autofill settings

Choose to automatically autofill forms or autofill with 3rd-party data

Written by Philip MacDonald

The intended audience for this article is Agents.

Wunderite lets agency teams and their members control how forms are autofilled when they're added to a Risk Profile. Autofill settings can be configured at three levels:

Agency members can manage their own autofill settings, while Agency Admins can manage settings for segments or the entire team. Personal settings take priority, followed by segments, then team settings. In other words, if a user has autofill settings configured for their account, those override segment and team settings.

Later in 2026, we plan to add the ability for Agency Admins to lock autofill settings to team defaults, preventing individual users from overriding them.

These settings define

  • What data sources are used to fill forms

  • What happens when there are conflicts or data is missing

  • Whether autofill runs automatically

  • Whether to use external data

Autofill primary source

This setting controls where Wunderite pulls data from first when autofilling forms. You can choose from:

  • All available data (recommended)
Uses any available data from risk profiles, risk data, or previously completed forms.
If there are conflicts, Wunderite uses the most recently updated value.

  • Risk data
Uses only risk profile data and risk data schedules.

  • Form answers
Uses answers from previously completed forms only.

How to think about it

  • Use All available data if you want the highest fill rate with minimal manual work.

  • Use Risk data if you want a structured, single source of truth.

  • Use Form answers if your team relies heavily on prior submissions instead of structured risk data.

Autofill fallback behavior

This setting controls what happens when the primary source does not have data for a field. You can choose from:

  • Fallback to other sources (recommended)
If no data exists in the primary source, Wunderite fills it using other available forms or risk data.

  • Only use primary source
Wunderite does not use any other sources. Fields remain blank if the primary source has no data.

How to think about it

  • Use Fallback to other sources if completeness matters more than strict data control.

  • Use Only use primary source if consistency and data origin matter more than fill rate.

Automatically autofill forms

By default, Wunderite can autofill forms as soon as they are added to a Risk Profile.

When enabled

  • Forms are autofilled immediately when added

  • No manual action is required

When disabled

  • Forms are added without autofill

  • You can run autofill manually when needed

This is useful if your team prefers to review or prepare data before applying autofill.

Use 3rd-party data to fill missing fields

Wunderite can enrich forms with external data sources, such as vehicle or property data.

When enabled

  • Missing fields may be filled using third-party data

  • This only applies when your agency’s risk data is incomplete

When disabled

  • Only your agency's data is used

This setting is helpful when you want higher completion rates without manual research.

Lock autofill settings

Agency Admins can lock autofill settings to team or segment defaults. When enabled, individual account settings no longer apply.

What changes when autofill is locked

  • Individual autofill settings are ignored

  • Users are forced to use the team or segment default settings

  • Users can’t update autofill settings from their Account Settings page

What users can still do

How to think about it

Locking autofill is useful when you want consistency across your team and need to prevent individual variation in how forms are filled. It ensures all forms follow the same data source and fallback rules, while still allowing one-off flexibility when needed.

Reset all segment autofill settings

On the Team > Feature Settings page, Agency Admins can reset all segment autofill settings at once. When you click Reset All Segment Autofill Settings:

  • All segment autofill configurations are cleared

  • Every segment is reset to use the team default settings

This is useful for teams with many segments. Instead of updating each segment individually, you can return everything to a consistent baseline in one step.

Segment & user autofill settings

For teams with Segments enabled, Agency Admins can update these autofill settings for individual segments on the Team > Segments page. Individual agency members can also update their own autofill settings from their Account Settings.

Segment autofill settings are based on the segment associated with the risk profile a form belongs to, not the segments an agency member belongs to. This matters because agency members can belong to multiple segments.

At the segment and user level, autofill settings use the team defaults unless custom settings were already configured. When no custom settings exist:

  • The autofill inputs are disabled

  • The segment or user follows the team default behavior

  • A Change Autofill Settings button is available

To use custom settings, select Change Autofill Settings. This enables the inputs so the admin or user can intentionally choose settings that differ from the team defaults.

This makes it clearer when a segment or user is using team defaults versus custom autofill settings. It also helps prevent autofill behavior from diverging from team settings unless that change is intentional.

When to adjust these settings

You may want to update your autofill settings if you:

  • Want tighter control over which data sources are used

  • Need more consistency in how fields are populated

  • Prefer to review forms before autofill runs

  • Want to increase completion rates using external data

  • Need to limit reliance on third-party enrichment

Override autofill settings for a single form

Agents can override autofill settings for a single form directly from the form response page. This allows you to control how autofill works for that form without changing your team, segment, or personal default settings.

To override autofill settings:

  • Click the settings icon on the Autofill Answers button

  • Adjust your selections in the Autofill settings for this form modal

  • Click Autofill With These Settings

By default, these settings match your team’s configured autofill settings. Any changes you make here apply only to the current form.

How overrides work

  • Overrides apply only to the current form session

  • Team and segment defaults aren't changed

  • The next time you open or autofill the form, your team, segment, or personal default settings are used again

  • Important note: Autofill doesn't remove or clear existing answers. If you want to start fresh, clear the form before running autofill.
